Which module do I complete?

Training requirements are set by individual organisations. Contact your employer or education provider for advice on which module(s) to complete. 

If you are required to undertake mandatory hand hygiene education using the modules, you should ask your employer or education provider which modules you should complete.

The titles of the modules will also assist you to choose the right one for you. The modules that are currently available are:

  • Hand hygiene for clinical healthcare workers  – for doctors, nurses and midwives, allied health professionals, including dietitians, occupational therapists, pharmacists, physiotherapists, podiatrists, speech pathologists, paramedics, healthcare students, such as those studying medical, nursing, midwifery, paramedic, and allied health disciplines or anyone providing physical care to patients and residents in a healthcare organisation such as personal care attendants
  • Hand hygiene for non-clinical healthcare workers – for clerical or administration staff, housekeeping or environmental services staff, ward orderly and patient transport staff, engineering and maintenance staff, sterilisation services staff, volunteers, social and spiritual support staff, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander liaison staff, laboratory staff, catering staff or contractors, such as tradespeople.
  • Dental module – for anyone working in a dental/oral health setting
  • Royal Australasian College of Surgeons module – for surgical trainees
  • Hand Hygiene Auditor eLearning Module – for learners enrolled in the Hand Hygiene Auditor (HA) Training Pathway or an existing auditor who needs refresher training
  • Hand Hygiene Auditor Educator eLearning Module – for learners enrolled in the Hand Hygiene Auditor Educator (HAE) Training Pathway or Hand Hygiene Auditor Educator (HAE) Lapsed Training Pathway or an existing HAE who needs refresher training.
